About the Event
Hapeville is excited to offer this FREE workshop as part of our Day of the Dead Celebration and festivities. This event will be lead by Marco Sánchez, a visiting artist from El Paso, TX. Participants will learn about the basics of block printing and leave with a completed, collaborative block print!
Hapeville se complace en ofrecer este taller GRATUITO como parte de nuestra Celebración y festividades del Día de los Muertos. Este evento será dirigido por Marco Sánchez, un artista invitado de El Paso, TX. ¡Los participantes aprenderán sobre los conceptos básicos de la impresión en bloque y se irán con una impresión en bloque completa y colaborativa!
Marco Sánchez is a Mexican-born artist based out in El Paso, Texas. He received his B.F.A. from the University of Texas El Paso with a double concentration in Painting and Printmaking. Sanchez received his MFA in Printmaking from the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in May of 2020. His work ranges from his relationship with his mentors and peers alike, to cultural background, folklore, blue-collar workers and the notion of immigrant identity.
He has worked primarily in the Southwestern United States, he has also participated in residencies throughout Mexico, including Mexico City, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Queretaro and in Cleveland at Zygote Press. Sánchez works as contract preparator at the El Paso Museum of History, at the Rubin Center for the Visual Arts, as a teaching artist with the El Paso Museum of Art and is also currently adjunct professor of Life Drawing and Printmaking at El Paso Community College.
